Huda Alkaff |
Founder of the Islamic Environmental Group of Wisconsin.
She is an environmentalist by training and education, her higher
education degrees are in conservation ecology and sustainable development
/ science and environmental education from the University of Georgia
and she has experience teaching environmental science courses at
the University of Wisconsin. She is the coordinator of the Wisconsin
Annual Interfaith Earth Month in April and the Wisconsin Annual
Interfaith Energy Awareness Month in October.

Alycia Ashburn
|
Alycia grew
up on the prairie in southwestern Minnesota -- in a small farm
town called Maynard. She received her bachelor's
degree in biology from Luther College (Decorah, IA) in 1999. She
is a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s
Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies where she studies
the effects of climate change on forest insect communities. Prior
to returning to school, Alycia worked for the Lutheran Coalition
for Public Policy in Minnesota, one of the 20 state advocacy offices
of the ELCA. In her work there, she was Co-Founder and Co-Coordinator
of the Congregations Caring for Creation Network, serving as a facilitator
and guide for congregations that seek to integrate environmental
stewardship and justice into the life, mission, and identity of their
churches. She worked to engage people of faith to take action on
global warming, energy conservation, renewable energy alternatives
and watershed health. Alycia is a 1998 Morris K. Udall Environmental
Policy Scholar, a 2004 National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Fellow,
and a contributor to the Oxford Declaration on Climate Change (2002).
She continues to volunteer her time and energy to train clergy and
congregation members to be active leaders in the creation care movement. |

Dr. Peter Bakken |
(Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), received
his PhD in theology from the University of Chicago. His dissertation
focused on theological and ecological assumptions of Aldo Leopold
and Joseph Sittler. He is Coordinator for Public Policy for the Wisconsin
Council of Churches, promoting faith-based advocacy on issues from
climate change to hunger and health care reform. For 14 years he
was Coordinator of Outreach for the Au Sable Institute of Environmental
Studies, a Christian environmental education organization. His publications
include Church on Earth: Grounding Your Ministry in a Sense of Place
(with Jeff Wild) and a collection of writings by Joseph Sittler,
Evocations of Grace: Writings on Ecology, Theology and Ethics (coedited
with Steven Bouma-Prediger). |

The Rev. Richard Blomker

The Rev.
Richard Blomker serves as a pastor at Lake Edge Lutheran Church
in Madison Wisconsin. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa
majoring in Religion and Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul,
Minnesota. He is past chair of the Interfaith Coalition for Worker
Justice in Madison, and past member of the Synod Global Connections
Environmental Committee and the Synod Council of the South Central
Synod of Wisconsin.

Mark Edge is a congregant

technologies and products. His Bachelor of Science – Economics

Ryan Schryver
|
(Protestant) is currently
working as the Grassroots Organizer and Clean Energy Advocate for
Clean Wisconsin where he is involved in
statewide policies to address climate change and promote sustainable
energy policies. With a political science major from the University
of Wisconsin La Crosse, Ryan brings a unique combination of grassroots
organizing skills and a detailed understanding of global warming
solutions to the organization. In addition to his work with Clean
Wisconsin Ryan serves on the Board of Directors for RENEW Wisconsin – A
not for profit organization promoting clean energy strategies for
powering the state's economy in an environmentally responsible manner.

Wayne Stroessner

(United Church of Christ) is a retired science teacher. He has
served on numerous committees for environmental groups including:
the Sierra Club, RENEW Wisconsin, Clean Wisconsin, the WDNR's Citizens
Advisory Committee on Mercury Regulations, the League of Conservation
Voters (LCV), Coordinator of Monroe Area Recycling Committee for
seven years, presently serves as Random Lake's Water Monitor for
the DNR, served as WICEC President for two years. He is a hydrogen
economy promoter.

Janet Weyker, OP - (Catholic)
is a graduate of St. Mary-of-the- Woods College in Indiana where
she studied Earth Literacy. Currently
she serves as Director of "Rooted in Hope", the Racine
Dominican Eco-Justice Center that is dedicated to environmental education
and care of Earth. She earned masters degrees from UW-Madison and
UW-Platteville in art education and counseling; her prior ministry
experience includes teaching, administration, and campus ministry. |

The Rev. Susan Gilbert Zencka
WIPL President |
Rev. Susan Gilbert Zencka is the pastor at Frame Memorial Presbyterian
Church in Stevens Point. She has a B.A. in Humanities from The Johns
Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and and M.Div. from McCormick
Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL. She also earned an MBA from
the University of Illinois at Chicago majoring in Accounting and
Economics, and was a CPA for 10 years before entering seminary. Susan
is president of the board of the Interfaith Community for the Earth
(ICE) in Stevens Point. |
